Body Conditioning is an optional training class for students studying Classical Ballet at SSD.
Classes run for half an hour and include gentle exercises to help with strength, balance and control.
Body conditioning is paramount to a dancers training and students who wish to attend full time vocational training would study these classes. Our classes are designed to help engage the working muscles, determine the centre of gravity through weight placement and help with relaxation through the body. We use a range of exercises derived from the ISTD, New York City Ballet, and Royal Ballet School.
All students studying these classes will need a 9 inch yoga ball, exercise band and fitness matt (optional).
Classes are strongly advised for students studying at Grade 3 or above, and have been carefully slotted into our timetable so that they can be accessed by all. View class times here.
