Tap

Tap Dance

Tap is a fun dance style which was born out of America, it is a huge influence still today, many choreographers and theatre professionals alike take inspiration from the likes of Fred Astaire and Shirley Temple. Current day shows in the West End and on tour, still use classic old style tap within their modern day choreography.

We run a number of classes at SSD open to students aged 3 yrs and above. Students working at the Primary level and above follow the ISTD syllabi which builds on basic techniques and a range of differing styles for the performers among our dancers.

Examinations are offered to students at the Entry level (Primary) and from Levels 1-3 are fully recognised by Ofqual and the DofE, with Vocational students being awarded UCAS points from Intermediate and above.
